Can my Pet get COVID-19?
Have a look at the video message published by AVA President Dr Julia Crawford on 21/03/2020 regarding pets and the COVID-19 pandemic. She provides up to date information, guidance and reassurance in challenging times. Current evidence finds that COVID-19 spreads in human populations due to close contact between people. There is no evidence that pets are capable of spreading COVID-19 to humans. Follow up testing of the 17-year-old Pomeranian dog in Hong Kong that was suspected of contracting coronavirus after contact with an infected person, found no measurable antibodies to the virus.
